EraNET network was founded in mid-1997 by ERATOSTHENES. The network's primary aim is the organization and distribution of data and applications related to the geography of Greece (such as digital maps, satellite images and demographic data), through the Internet.
In the well-equipped installations of the network, all necessary mechanisms exist, that will bring the user near new technologies and methods, and will also provide with the means for discovering new, yet familiar tools such as printed maps.
The network is directly connected to the servers of ERATOSTHENES, bringing to the user an up-to-date view of all available data, as they get produced and updated on an everyday basis.
The data is used for composing digital maps which, in turn, can be printed in high accuracy, large scale color printers, capable of supporting high demands.
Applications that make use of the data through the Internet, are being constantly developed and deployed becoming available on-line to the users of the network. The users can print ready-made maps through Internet, or design their own maps never needing to possess any data themselves.
