The EUROSCOPE validation plan

EUROSCOPE as a large urban demonstrator project places strong emphasis on the validation of the demonstrators. For this reason, each site is planning to validate the services offered to its users, but within a common framework. This common framework is defined in the EUROSCOPE validation plan.

The project has adopted and followed the CONVERGE guidelines for preparing validation plans, guaranteeing commonality inside the project, but also with the other projects of the transport sector of the TAP.

The following diagram shows the validation process within EUROSCOPE.

So far an initial and an enhanced validation plan have been produced. The 11 key applications which are to be validated are

WA1, the informed traveller

  • on-trip information using VMS
  • on-trip/on-board information
  • pre-trip traveller information

WA2 logistic information and communication systems

  • freight related on-line information systems for cargo terminals
  • links to traffic information systems and traffic information

WA3 network management

  • network monitoring
  • integrated management strategies
  • incident management
  • priority measures
  • links between control and information centres
  • strategic information systems

Validation will cover among other user acceptance and impact assessment, using a number of common indicators, so that comparative conclusions can be drawn from site to site, and in relation to other projects of the TAP/Transport.
