EUROSCOPE follows the life cycle of the projects of Telematics Applications Programme |
EUROSCOPE is strongly user-oriented and is based upon a sound analysis of user needs. EUROSCOPE involves representatives of the main user groups at all stages and investigates their needs in real situations in the field. To this end, EUROSCOPE assesses user requirements in the context of the telematics applications under development. |
The assessment of user requirements, provides the basis for the definition of the functional specifications of
different applications under development within EUROSCOPE. Common methodologies have been used, for the analysis of user needs and for the formulation of functional specifications, resulting in a common approach for all the applications, in each city. |
Most of the various demonstrators to be assessed within EUROSCOPE were developed and implemented, within the various partner cities. In some cases there was a requirement for the expansion of existing systems and other major enhancements and developments. A major element of this task was to understand differences between existing infrastuctures, to enable these to be taken into account during subsequent integration of the systems. |
The Verification of the EUROSCOPE Telematics Applications, is not conducted under operational conditions. It concentrates on testing the physical functioning of the application and acceptance of it, by its main sponsors. Additionally, it may be necessary to conduct preliminary tests of user acceptance by other end-users. Sufficient impact analysis to assure key decision makers about the likely imp[acts of the application in terms of its corresponding assessment objectives, is also involved
at this stage. |
The Demonstration of the EUROSCOPE Telematics Applications, is conducted under operational conditions. It concentrates on acceptance of the application by a larger sample of end-users and comprehensive impact analysis in order to evaluate the benefits of the application. Demonstration stage is more comprehensive than the verification phase. It is expected to test the performance of the application under operational conditions. It should enable a
more comprehensive impact analysis and a socio-economic evaluation or financial assessment to be performed. Obviously, the scale of the demonstration must be sufficient to identify and measure the key impacts. |
The development of the Exploitation Plan addressess the issue of the "market" introduction of the various systems developed within EUROSCOPE. The exploitation plan for the services developed and successfully tested within EUROSCOPE, requires the development of plans for the permanent operation of the systems developed, the delivery of the services to a larger set of users (the public) and the introduction of the telematic services in the everyday life of operators, authorities, professionals and enterprices, especially SME's. The exploitation plan is based on the results of the evaluation of the proposed demonstrations and on user acceptance. |
